During my 11-day trip to Moscow this Summer 2026, I decided to stay in a hotel instead of a hostel since my boyfriend was joining me for the entire trip. As a Moscow local, he had stayed at VEGA Izmailovo Hotel a few times before for staycations and had fond memories of the property so he suggested it.
After checking the location, facilities, and room options myself, I was already sold. The hotel offered comfortable rooms, easy metro access, and a location right next to one of Moscow's most interesting districts.

VEGA Izmailovo Hotel Location in Moscow:
Located in Moscow's Izmailovo District, VEGA Izmailovo Hotel is one of the five hotels that make up the historic Izmailovo Hotel Complex, originally built for the 1980 Summer Olympics. The complex consists of Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, and VEGA Hotels.
The hotel is just a short walk from both Izmailovo Kremlin & Bazaar and Partizanskaya Metro Station, making it easy to explore Moscow's main attractions while staying outside the busy city center.
Nearby, you'll also find several cafés, restaurants, convenience stores, pharmacies, and beauty salons within walking distance.
Location Highlights:
- ~3-minute walk to Izmailovo Kremlin & Bazaar
- ~3-minute walk to Partizanskaya Metro Station
- Direct metro access to Ploshchad Revolyutsii Station (nearest station to Red Square)
- Numerous cafés, restaurants, convenience stores, and pharmacies nearby
What I appreciated most was the direct access to Ploshchad Revolyutsii Station without needing to transfer metro lines. Having restaurants, convenience stores, pharmacies, and other essentials within walking distance also made the stay even more convenient.
VEGA Izmailovo Hotel Room:
For our stay, we booked the Russian Deluxe Double Room, a themed room category introduced in 2017 ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
The room came equipped with everything you'd expect from a modern four-star hotel, including:
- King-sized bed
- Air conditioning
- Flat-screen TV
- Mini refrigerator
- Electric kettle
- Tea and coffee-making facilities
- Complimentary bottled water
While the amenities were standard, what made the room memorable was the attention to detail. Everywhere I looked, there was a little Russian touch: from the colorful bed runner and red armchair to the matryoshka tiles in the bathroom.
Rich shades of red, traditional patterns, and decorative elements gave the room far more personality than a typical hotel room. Rather than feeling generic, it felt like a subtle introduction to Russian culture.
Even the hallways continued the theme.
The carpets featured illustrations inspired by famous Russian symbols and landmarks, including matryoshka dolls, Stalin-era skyscrapers, and traditional motifs. Even the room numbers incorporated bear designs, adding another playful Russian touch throughout the property.

Beyond the comfortable rooms and convenient location, VEGA Izmailovo Hotel offers a variety of facilities that make longer stays and city breaks more comfortable.
General Facilities on the Ground Floor
Upon entering the hotel, guests are welcomed by a spacious reception area and a separate guest service center. During our stay, the guest service team assisted us with our foreign registration paperwork, which is required for foreign visitors staying in Russia.
If you arrive before check-in time or have a few hours to spare before your departure, there are several facilities located on the ground floor to help pass the time. The lobby features comfortable seating areas, a café serving coffee, pastries, sandwiches, and light meals, as well as a children's playroom for families traveling with kids.
One facility that immediately caught my attention was the robotic ice cream machine. While certainly not a necessity, it added a fun and unexpected touch to the hotel and seemed popular with both children and adults.
Gym & Fitness Studio
For guests who want to maintain their fitness routine while traveling, VEGA Izmailovo Hotel also has a well-equipped gym and fitness studio located on the ground floor.
The facility includes a variety of cardio machines, strength-training equipment, free weights, and a dedicated studio space that can be used for stretching, yoga, or other fitness activities. During my visit, I found the gym surprisingly spacious and much larger than what I typically expect from a city hotel.
Natural light from the large windows also helped create a more pleasant workout environment compared to the windowless hotel gyms I've encountered elsewhere.
Buffet Breakfast
One of the highlights of our stay at VEGA Izmailovo Hotel was the daily buffet breakfast served at the hotel's restaurant. The dining area was spacious, bright, and offered views of the Izmailovo Kremlin.
The breakfast spread featured a mix of Russian and international options, including eggs, sausages, pancakes, waffles, cold cuts, cheeses, mushrooms, pastries, cereals, yogurt, fresh juices, coffee, tea, and an impressive selection of desserts. Of course, the traditional Russian breakfast items are also available such cottage cheese (tvorog), sour cream, kefir, and even fresh honeycomb.
As someone with a sweet tooth, I was particularly happy to see halva and chocolate meringue among the offerings.
While some items were served on both days of our visit, the main dishes varied enough to keep breakfast interesting, especially for guests staying for several nights.
Overall, the breakfast offered a good balance of local specialties and familiar favorites, making it easy to start each day on a satisfying note.
Hotel Cost: What You Can Expect
We booked VEGA Izmailovo Hotel through Ostrovok.ru and paid RUB 12,672 (approximately AED 542) for our two-night stay in Moscow during our July 2026 trip.
Considering the room quality, location, and facilities, I found the price quite reasonable for Moscow. One mistake we made, however, was not including breakfast when making the reservation since we can decide on it later on.
We ended up paying the breakfast directly from the hotel for RUB 1,800 per person per day (approximately AED 77). The buffet breakfast was absolutely worth it though! So, if you already know you'll be eating breakfast at the hotel, it's cheaper to book it as a package rather than paying for it separately.
Who Is VEGA Izmailovo Hotel For?
Based on our experience, VEGA Izmailovo Hotel caters to a wide range of travelers visiting Moscow. It is ideal for:
- Tourists - whether you're traveling solo, as a couple, with family, or in a group.
- Business travelers - the hotel has several conference halls, meeting facilities, and room categories designed for corporate guests.
- Families - during our stay, we noticed many families enjoying the hotel over the weekend. There is also a small children's play area on the ground floor.
What stood out most to me, however, was the location. While I haven't stayed in every district of Moscow, I found VEGA Izmailovo incredibly convenient for sightseeing. The hotel is only a short walk from Partizanskaya Metro Station, providing direct access to central Moscow via Metro Line 3 without the need to transfer trains.
Beyond the metro connection, I also appreciated having restaurants, cafés, convenience stores, pharmacies, and the colorful Izmailovo Kremlin & Bazaar within walking distance. For travelers who want a comfortable base with easy access to the city's attractions, VEGA Izmailovo Hotel is definitely worth considering.
Overall Experience at VEGA Izmailovo Hotel in Moscow:
While it isn't located directly in Moscow's historic center, the excellent metro connection, comfortable rooms, and proximity to Izmailovo Kremlin made it one of the most convenient places I stayed during my trip.
The Russian-themed room design added plenty of character, the buffet breakfast exceeded my expectations, and the surrounding area offered everything we needed within walking distance.
Would I stay here again? Absolutely. Although part of me is curious to explore other districts on my next visit to Moscow.
Still, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend VEGA Izmailovo Hotel to travelers looking for a comfortable stay, excellent metro access, and a location that balances convenience with a slightly quieter atmosphere outside the city center.
